Katsina Government Condoles Families of Mantau Attack Victims

The Katsina State Government has dispatched a high-powered delegation to Unguwar Mantau in Malumfashi Local Government Area to condole with families of victims of the recent deadly reprisal attack that claimed dozens of lives.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who is currently on medical leave, directed Acting Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe to urgently send the delegation in response to the incident.

The delegation, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, was received in Karfi town by the Village Head and relatives of the deceased.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Faskari described the killings as “deeply painful and heartbreaking,” assuring residents that government would intensify security measures to restore peace and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Our hearts are with the families who lost their loved ones in this senseless attack. This administration remains committed to working with all security agencies to ensure justice is served and to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he said.

Officials confirmed that 32 people were killed while observing prayers. The number of abducted victims is yet to be ascertained as a swift intervention by the Nigerian Air Force disrupted the bandits during their escape. Some captives managed to flee, while others were rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The state government also announced immediate support for the bereaved families, while a comprehensive assessment of the damage is being carried out.

The condolence delegation included Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs; the Senior Special Assistants on Community Watch and on Victims of Banditry and IDPs; the Member representing Malumfashi at the State House of Assembly; the Chairman of Malumfashi LGA; and heads of security agencies including the Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the Nigerian Army 17 Brigade, the DSS Director, and the NSCDC Commandant.

The government reaffirmed that the protection of lives and restoration of peace remain its top priority.
